Wailea Maui, HI
As I looked out of the plane’s window and saw the crescent shaped crater of Molokini pass underneath I gave myself a small pinch. Two years ago I was fortunate enough to document a wedding on Maui and never dreamed I would get another opportunity so soon. I have a small love affair with the Hawaiian Islands and Maui in particular. Every corner of Maui is as beautiful as the next and although I’ve been here several times, personally and for work I still stand in awe of its majesty on every visit.
Mona and Jack are from the San Francisco bay area and held their wedding with a small group of friends and family who traveled to celebrate with them. The night before the wedding they invited me to their rehearsal dinner and included me as part of their own. I quickly discovered their friends were considered just as much family as anyone else.
The wedding day began at the Grand Wailea and continued to Gannon’s where Mona and Jack were married on the hillside overlooking the ocean. As the sun set and they recited their vows to one another I could not imagine a more perfect setting for a moment so special. The rest of the evening was filled with dancing and laughter and the newlywed couple were positively glowing all night. I left feeling honored and privileged to document such a celebration. To witness the love that surrounded them in a setting so beautiful is exactly what keeps me loving this job. Thank you Mona and Jack!
